Safety
How we keep every trip safe
Every Localite is verified before they can be booked, and help is one tap away throughout your trip. Here is exactly what we check.
Verification and protection
Six layers, enforced in the app
These checks are built into the product itself — a Localite who hasn’t passed them cannot appear in search.
Aadhaar identity verification
Every Localite verifies their Aadhaar with an OTP to their registered number before they can appear in Explore. We confirm the identity is real and belongs to them.
Live selfie, camera only
The profile photo must be captured live, in the app, with the camera. Gallery uploads are refused. The face is then checked automatically for presence, lighting and pose — so the person in the photo is the person who signed up.
18+ age gate
Age is derived from the Aadhaar date of birth, not self-declared. Anyone under 18 is refused and the account is blocked.
Vehicle registration checked against VAHAN
Where a Localite offers transport, the registration is verified against the national VAHAN database. Owner and insurer details are never shown to travellers — only the verification result.
One-tap SOS on every trip
During a trip, SOS alerts your emergency contacts and our operations team with your location, and raises an alarm in our admin console. It works for co-travellers on a shared booking too.
Pay only after acceptance
No money moves until your Localite has confirmed the day. If they cannot make it, you were never charged in the first place.
Our limits
What we don’t do
Being clear about the limits is part of being trustworthy about everything else.
We do not run criminal record checks. Identity, face, age and vehicle are verified; criminal history is not.
We do not track your location continuously. Location is used when you trigger SOS, and while a trip is active.
We are not an emergency service. SOS alerts your contacts and our team — in a genuine emergency, call 112 first.
